Usually we see 400% returns from smaller stocks, somewhere below $0.50, and it is strange to see stocks jump dollars in a day. Even Procter and Gambles crash earlier this month was only around a 2$ drop. So for a company like Hauppauge (HAUP), which was trading at $0.95, to jump up to almost 5 dollars in a day is phenomenal. The stock has since cooled down only slightly, dipping close to $3 and is now climbing quickly to $4 again. So what caused this stock to jump so quickly? In short, the evolution of information dissemination is striking the right chords with investors, and the everyday consumer.

Handheld devices are now commonplace. The adoption of them has been quick and a time where they were not so widespread has long since left our collective memory. This, however, does not mean this new trend is in its final phase by any means. In fact, the speed at which we are updating and powering our new favorite technology is astounding. Hauppauge's contribution is simple, and many could have predicted its coming, yet it adds a whole new dimension to handheld devices.

Live TV streaming to your handheld is the next step sought by Hauppauge, targeting primarily iPods and iPads.

Their TV capture and Send technology is not limited to handhelds, but shoots a live signal to the internet and that television stream can be accessed by any device that can connect to the internet. Everything is becoming connected, and handhelds are at the center of such movements, allowing easy access through phone calls, texting, surfing the web and now watching TV. This technology, called WinTV Extend is not revolutionary, any 14 year old would know it was on the way, but it is a necessary movement for these technologies to advance even further.

HAUP is also well known for their TV tuner technology, which allows computers to receive and process a TV signal, usually downloading it to the hard drive. As one can imagine, streaming this 'translated' TV signal to your other devices is the next logical step.

Stock prices are looking like they're going to stay high up there at least in the short term, and unless another company develops similar technology, expect far more attention for Hauppauge than ever before.

What's Wrong With Fear?

Sometimes small mistakes can be the cause of much more extreme reactions. Many say that investors have a herd mentality, and while this is not necessarily true, there are times when the actions of the market seem indistinguishable from a fearful mob. Recently, a simple typo helped send all major indexes plummeting for the day.

Now this sort of mistake is rare, but it does highlight many of the issues inherent in the financial system. Not only does human error play a large factor, but the dissemination of information does as well. Risk in the system is largely the result of factors investors cannot simply take account of, like human error. No one could expect that an institutional holder would accidentally sell off billions of dollars Procter and Gamble (PG) instead of millions. But the reaction of the market is where the real problem lies.

The problem is inherent, and most likely impossible to fix. It is based in the speed necessary for many investors, especially the big guns on Wall Street. They need to move around large accounts based on the slightest hint that there are opportunities or dangers. As such, when the accidentally large sale happened it sent large, worried shockwaves to anyone looking at the market. When people are poised for quick movement at danger, which is a requirement of the job, reacting is more important than second-guessing.

This reaction, which happened Thursday, May 6th, dropped PG by over $2.00 and the downturn lasted a little over one day. The fear investors faced was magnified due to limited sources of information. Namely, when news is fresh, it leaks among those that receive it, but may not have reached the ears of other news outlets yet. As such, there is little to no opportunity to review this information, or in this case, why so many shares were sold.

The speed of information dissemination is only limited by the speed at which one can write about it. This however does not guarantee quality information. Everyone involved or interested knew what had happened, but few knew why. Thus, the first wave of knowing set off the run to sell PG stock, since it is best to be quick and safe than to be too slow. The second wave came much later, as investigation produced the truth, which sent the stock back up as if nothing had happened.

PG, having a spectacularly bad day, was hit by more than just accidental selling. Since information sharing is so powerful, it gives many more people the opportunity to have their voices heard. Unfortunately, since anger and fear a such primal emotions, they carry much weight even if unjustified or unverified. When an angry mothers words came out so strongly against PGs Pampers With Dry Max through her blog and was carried by her supporters, the negative attention received was terrible.

In uncertain economic times, where both individuals and companies are frequently feeling in danger, a small spark is needed for the fire. In this case it was simply accusations by a mother concerning diaper rash that made the call to arms and created a large lash-back against PG. This unfortunately culminated into a class action lawsuit and played into the large drop that occurred.

All in all, the market moves as best it can, but these movements may not necessarily be based on truth. This is all the more true in penny stocks, where the hint of success or failure creates huge waves. The markets are unpredictable, but they trend based on the information available, and misunderstandings are corrected quickly after the truth is clear. Keep your ears to the ground and you can be the first to react to te real news, not just the hype of fear.

Gains Broke 7000%!

Many stocks have had a hard time in the past few years, but those who have survived are looking to jump right back up as soon as they can. The financial downturn has caused many bankruptcies, acquisitions and slowdowns in every sector of the economy. This creates a very profitable scenario for investors, since so many companies are returning to their former glory. A quick look at stock screeners available on almost any finance website will show that it is not unusual for companies to be growing 100% or more since the year before. Even for a risk adverse investor, the potential exists for unparalleled gains.

One stock, which shows how powerful a growth can be achieved in times of economic recovery, is Kat Exploration (KATX). Since November of last year KATX has grown over 7000% in clear jumps, the most recent climb being since the beginning of May. It has climbed over 100% since a month ago and does not look like it is stopping.

KAT Exploration Inc. is an exploration company based in Mount Pearl Newfoundland. The company has a variety of mineral properties consisting of Gold, Copper and Silver. The company's main focus has been on Sediment-Hosted Stratiform Copper Deposits in the eastern portion of the province. Although copper is one of their main focuses, the company has a great interest in gold properties in and around the central area of the province. With the continual climb in gold prices this comes as no surprise.

One such gold interest is the Handcamp property area that has thus far provided high-grade gold in numbers as high as 158 g/t. With the discovery of Rare Earth Elements(REE) on their 100% owned "Rusty Ridge" property, the company will expand it's focus in this area as well.

Some of their newest acquisitions include 346 new claims of approximately 125sq KM over impressive copper discoveries in the southern portion of the Bonavista peninsula, south of its Lucky properties in the Clifton area in eastern Newfoundland. These are scheduled for quick and extensive exploration, come warmer weather this year. Should KATX find more valuable ores be assured their stock will benefit as well. Already their strong trend gives a good sense of stability, and with news around the corner, the next few months may be a good time for holders of their stock.

Silver Falcon(SFMI) Rises As Gold Hits New Highs

Many different mining stocks have seen big returns recently. Gold is now setting a new record every day it rises, hitting new marks for the most expensive it's ever been in history. With such radical growth in price, this is making companies like Silver Falcon Mining (SFMI) shoot up in price.

Silver Falcon grew over 300% this last month and has consistently shown high volume as well. Volume is coming in waves, each time boosting prices higher. Recent news has been spurring this stock onwards and upwards, and even the smallest bit of news seems to create a reaction. One example being the opening of a helipad at one of their sites, which alone sent stock prices shooting up 60%.

SFMI has been seeing many jumps lately, and while these are not getting steeper, they are rising more each time in absolute value. The first was from around $0.10 and $0.15, the second was from $0.15 to almost $0.25, and the latest large move was from below $0.20 to $0.35. This most recent move has not peaked as of yet, so it may very well be higher than that.

SFMI has one major project which opened recently, called the Diamond Creek Mills project. This relies in part on the tailings left by previous mining projects done in the early 1900s. These tailings are marked as extremely valuable, and the advancement of refining and extraction technology are to thank.

SFMI has also been expanding their reach. New parties of interest have come from Brazil, and SFMI has signed an agreement to:

"1) Meet with a Sao Paulo legal team to plan an offering on the BOVESPA (Brazilian Exchange).

2) Translate Silver Falcon Mining, Inc. (SFMI) web site to Portuguese and linking the Brazilian version with the North American version by means of a corresponding flag.

3) Getting membership in the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce in New York City."

The expansion of SFMI into the BOVESPA gives a good push to stock value and could generate new revenue for the company with the issuance of new shares. Brazil is also crazy for gold, which shows in their interest for SFMI. The gold price, with regards to the Brazilian Real, rose very sharply in the beginning of April, and has been making its way higher.

Good news of the Diamond Creek Mills project is continuing to flow as SFMI announced that their gold and silver production will be ready for sale come May 17th. The coming news of their success may garner even more interest from the investing public. As well, the Sinker Tunnel complex in the War Eagle Mountain, where the Diamond Creek Mill project is located, is being worked on. Once the tunnel ventilating and cleaning are complete, this area will allow year round work to be done on the mine and keep the mine running efficiently.

SFMI is ready to climb higher, as soon as the reports of their success in the Diamond Creek Mill is published, you will see this stock become a big winner. With SFMI expanding its market into Brazil as well, there seems to be huge potential for the future of this microcap.

Vivakor (VIVK) Sees Highest Volume Ever

VIVK Is Back Down, But Is It Out?

In true penny stock fashion Vivakor (VIVK) has seen huge growth last week, but prices are steadying far lower than the trend would have suggested. Price peaked at over 250%, reaching that height primarily in one day. Stock price is continuing to fall after the rally, now residing lower than the pre-jump price. Volume is still very high, making this an ideal candidate for a strong bounce play. Low price and high volume, with price shares having fallen to low levels without good reason gives Vivakor some good potential if some hype returns to the stock.

Akorn (AKRX) Way Up On Huge Volume

AKRX Shows Long Term Bullishness

Akorn Inc. (ARKX), a pharmaceutical company, has been on a run upwards in their stock price. The most recent jump, of over 20% higher than the day before, was only the latest in a yearlong upward trend (Seen below). In total the stock has rallied up over 180% and is still going strong. Volume today was over 4 times the average, peaking with the most recent news. Akorn began its rise at below the $1.00 mark, and now trades higher than $2.50.

Akorn received an encouraging response from the markets today as it announced that two of their board members will not be coming back for re-election as of May 21st. The board then opted to nominate a new director, Kenneth S. Abramowitz.

It is interesting to note how some insider trading could be used in this company's case. There has been no sale of any shares by insiders since May of last year, which is shortly after the beginning of the strong bullish trend we've seen up till now. While maybe not as notable as other insider moves, this disappearance of selling shares means there was confidence amongst the board as to how the company was performing.

Some other news played into the advancement of the stock price recently. Two major movers had to do with FDA approval of some of Akorn's drugs. The first is the re-launch of their Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment, which is used for "the treatment of superficial ocular infections involving the conjunctiva and/or cornea caused by organisms susceptible to erythromycin." This is often useful for younger children born from mothers with certain STDs.

The second FDA approval is of their Hydromorphone Hydrochloride Injection, which is slated to be shipped out this month. With many other products catering to many specific needs, Akorn is well placed in the medical community. First quarter results for Akorn show a 36% increase in core business revenue from the previous year and expectations for 2010 place total revenues as high as $80 million.

Another point of interest to investors looking to Akorn for more long term growth is the initiation of research on them by a third party company. Liberty Analytics is currently offering free subscriptions to anyone, and may be a useful tool for investors looking to take a look at Akorn in more depth.

Akorn has many products, ranging from simple eye drops to hydrochloride injections. These products, with all their variety, provide the strong base Akorn has shown. Expect Akorn to keep growing for a while yet, slowing down only when investors hesitate at how high it will go.

Scottrade, Charles Schwab and Share Builder are plagued with similar but different problems that limit their usefulness for anyone looking into penny stocks. While their tools for investors outweigh what Zecco offers, their painful pricing schemes make them very unattractive.

Scottrade has a decent trade cost, but they lose our support when they introduce a surcharge for shares under $1. While the added cost comes to only $5 for every $1000 invested, it can still be a burden for investors. Scottrade, however, is the only broker listed here which has excellent support for mobile users, making them fall into second place.

Charles Schwab on the other hand has even higher rates, a larger account minimum and a share limit per trade. While normally 999,999 shares is plenty, for penny stock investors it may be too limiting. Further, their lack of mobile support places Charles Schwab in third place.

(SNSR) Sanswire Moves Up - URGENT UPDATE

News just came out that SNSR has just entered into an agreement with Eastcor Engineering LLC for the inspection of their UAVs. Sanswire and Global Telesat selected Eastcor, a Department of Defense qualified prime contractor, to provide integration services with the goal of developing SkySat into a turn key solution for reconnaissance missions.

Small caps are often niche companies, catering to a small group of individuals or corporations and their specific needs. This is all the more apparent with companies like Sanswire (SNSR) who has seen some major growth recently. Sanswire is a developer and producer of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with many high altitude applications.

SNSR has been showing steady growth since their full-year 2009 results, announced early this month. The outlook for 2010 has also been positive, reflecting itself in the trader interest and optimism shown. The most recent news, which sent the stock hurtling up over 40% yesterday, was that another company, Global Telesat Corp. was to purchase a 50% interest in one of SNSR's UAVs. This 50% interest brought in $250,000 for SNSR, to be paid in monthly increments, including an option to purchase the other 50% for $750,000 more.

SNSR is a producer of UAVs, which have many potential uses. The ship purchased by Global Telesat Corp., the SkySat, is made primarily for reconnaissance and surveillance. According to a press release, it can survive "missions performed at altitudes up to 45,000 ft. Sanswire and Global Telesat intend to upgrade the airship to improve its viability for multipurpose defence and communications operations. More specifically, the two companies plan to develop a flexible platform allowing the SkySat to accommodate a range of customer requirements."

There has been some insider trading, however it is debatable whether or not it carry's any meaning. There have been what appears to be very systematic insider trading by SNSR CFO, Thomas Siefert. The volume of the transactions have been limited to 50,000 shares mostly, which is negligible for penny stocks. These transactions were somewhat consistent, but strangely, counter intuitive. The CFO bought shares this past winter when prices were higher, and began selling when prices fell. The rule of thumb some use is that insider buying is usually a good time to buy, whereas insider selling can mean anything.

Global Telesat Corp. is also involved in another one of the lighter-than-air-ships produced by SNSR, the STS-111 UAV. Testing began in December 2009, but expectations are high for this segmented ship. The number of uses for a craft like this are limited, but as their technology and expertise increase it is assured more uses will be found. Be sure to be ready for news of this new contract to be confirmed, for stock prices will likely jump when the first payment is made. And if the option to exercise 100% interest in the SkySat is made, then prices will jump even higher. The future has much potential for Sanswire, and I would not be surprised if a military contract is made sometime within the next few years. Definitely a stock to keep you eyes on

GoIP (GOIG) Rockets Higher

How Much Could YOU Have Made?

Advertisers have been struggling for some time now on how to penetrate the fast growing mobile communications technology. What can be done to advertise products on mobile devices that is acceptable to the mainstream public? Go800 by GoIP Global (GOIG) is catering to solving one aspect of mobile salesmanship through simplicity in creativity.

This innovative small cap has seen enormous growth since last February. This, rather than being made to sell a mobile user a product, seeks to connect them as quickly and seamlessly as possible to a representative who can answer to questions or requests. This is achieved through a simple text message with a Keyword sent to the Go800 number, 46800. This is made to be able to replace all 800 numbers with easier to remember Keywords.

After a text is sent the Go800 system will connect both parties, with the mobile user getting an incoming call, with an added benefit of usually costing less than outgoing. This system, since it uses words and not series of numbers, can be made part of an ad campaign, having advertisers use clever and strong words as their Keyword, to enhance the image attempting to be sent. Words are generally remembered easier, making their message and Keyword stay longer in the minds of potential consumers, not to mention the use of being able to text on the go.

The Go800 was showcased recently in a large business expo with resounding success. The Mina Mar Group hosted a business conference, allowing GoIP to be seen by new investors like one of the many public and private companies present. This, along with the Go800 ambassadors, will give much needed exposure to a critical new use of technology. The simplicity of their model and ease of integration make selling Go800 to new businesses easy and profitable. This could mark the evolutuion of the 800 number system into someting more practical in modern society. As the old system begins to transition out, we may see GoIP seeing even more spectacular gains.

Lyric Jeans (LYJN) Analysis Of A Recent Winner

The recent up and comer, Lyric Jeans (LYJN), who grew 1000s of percent in one week, has successfully tapped into many different markets with their clothing. At first specializing in women's tee-shirts, they have expanded to denim wear, accessories, men's tee-shirts and toddler clothes. Their unique style comes from their use of lyrics on clothes. Through this, customers can express themselves through their favourite artists. LYJN has licensing deals with some of the largest music publishes. Powerhouse music publishers include, and are not limited to, Warner Chappell, EMI, Universal, Sony/ATV and Disney Music Publishing. LYJN is being distributed through specialty stores in major areas like Australia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Company Profile and Highlights

Lyric Culture, their clothing and accessory brand, has many diverse ranges of style and artists. LYJN has the rights to use lyrics from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, David Bowie, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac and many other such superstars. Rob Kenneally: Rob is a television executive, who has had a hand in creative and culturally groundbreaking shows like "Sex in the City" and "The Simpsons". His main task was dealing with the programming for networks like FOX. He is currently a Senior Executive at CAA.

Analysis

After their significant bullish moves, LYJN peaked above $0.15, marking over 4000% gains from weeks prior. Since LYJN has stabilized near the $0.03 mark, and looks to be continuing it's slow fall to more reasonable levels as hype falls.

Volume had fallen significantly shortly after prices peaked, and has continued to do so since. While there may be some long term repercussions from this recent boost, this price level has been mostly due to short term hype. Very profitable short term hype. Eyes will be on LYJN however, and volume is still far higher than previously seen, making it quite volatile should any striking news become available.

While it may not be worth it to hold these depreciating shares, there could be another large move that puts it higher than current prices. If one is confident that the price will bottom out soon and prices will start to climb up again, quickly or otherwise, timing is everything. Purchasing stocks right before an explosion would be most profitable, but to cast a wider net, adding small amounts of LYJN shares frequently as prices fall will ensure you get somewhere between the 'hold until it shoots option' and the 'buy right before it shoots 'option. This is risky since any such boost is not guaranteed, but with LYJN so fresh in the minds of many investors and eyes still trained on it, things are lined up for just such a move.

Fresh Harvest (FRHV) Continues Expansion

Fresh Harvest Inc. (FRHV) Saw some pretty major gains in November, having share prices shoot up to several times the original value. After then prices have expectedly fallen, but FRHV has been very erratic since. It saw gains and falls of over 50%, and had been struggling to get above $0.03 for some time. This volatility could have been a frequent traders playground, allowing many quick buys and sells for significant profit each time. But this all changed earlier this week when prices more than quadrupled shortly after markets opened on Monday. This peaked at around 5 times the value it held the week prior, and FRHV is still looking much stronger than last week, even if volume has fallen considerably.

FRHV has a wide range of organic and healthy food and drink items available. They are an active member of the Organic Trade Association, which is the only business association representing the interests of the organic industry in North America. Fresh Harvest, at first glance, seems little more than an organic and health oriented small cap, with little to offer. While repeatedly offering negative earnings per share may scare off some, many penny stocks are in similar situations, and keen investors must look past what may scare away others. Many expect that this trend is going to end within the next quarter results, since FRHV's recent acquisition.

AC La Rocco Pizza is a 12 year old company that has been making steady income, with over $1.5 million in sales yearly. By widening the variety of products offered with a successful, healthy, organic and well loved food like pizza, FRHV is stepping into a new league. This has not been fully represented in share prices yet, since it is a recent development and the results of such a move is yet to be seen. This pizza is also a Weight Watchers favorite, boasting fewer calories than many other brands. While the health craze is still strong, this style of pizza may be picking up steam, leading to increasing exposure to potential consumers.

The healthy lifestyle is on the rise as more and more media is saturated with all these methods of cutting calories. The power that products like AC La Rocco Pizza has is that it is simple. It does not require any large change is action, which is what almost every quick and easy diet plan tries to sell. This health craze boom is highlighted by the number of attendants Natural Products Expo West/Supply Expo, which reached a record high of around 56,000 people, of which FRHV was present for. These were all industry professionals, and FRHV had success in spreading awareness of their products and mission.

Mid January of this year we saw a sizeable insider trade, amounting to 150,000 shares purchased by the CEO/CFO/Chairman of the Board/President/Director Michael Jordan Friedman. This was over a month after the enormous jump in share price seen this past November. This is when real heavy movements began to occur for FRHV, with new partnerships, expanded coverage and of course acquisitions. This investment by the CEO proved to be somewhat significant, since prices have been on basically a slow rise since then.

Mr. Friedman earned a Masters of Law in Taxation, May 2005, and is a graduate of New York Law School, May 2003. Mr. Friedman acquired the Series 7 and 63 securities brokerage licenses at the age of nineteen (1996), and worked in corporate finance, and then investment banking as a financial advisor/stock broker until 1997. Mr. Friedman consulted in the food industry as a partner of The Willis Group, Inc. from March 2001 to May 2004, working with rapidly growing companies helping plan their expansion into existing and new markets. He is an advisor and on the Board of Directors of Talk Entertainment, Inc., a privately held multi-media company since 2003.

NEWS

An organic company, Blue Gem (BGEM), added another strong FRHV product, Wings of Nature Health Bars, to their distributed products. This, taken up last February, helped FRHV to penetrate into the Florida region. Their major entry point is through the very well known Walgreens, which provides a lot of visibility for their products. FRHV CEO said "We chose Blue Gem Enterprise to distribute our Wings of Nature™ bars as we believe that they will add great value to our distribution network. We feel that Blue Gem has the experience, distribution capability, relationships and sales force to help increase our distribution and sales tremendously. We have already shipped our first order to Blue Gem and we are pleased to be working with them as we expand." As well as this, FRHV has also used other means to get their product known. In January they signed a sponsorship agreement with the Orlando Magic Basketball team.

NEWS - UPDATE

This has paid off considerably for FRHV, considering the most recent news. Wallgreens has agreed to shelve Fresh Harvest Wings Of Nature bars in over 260 more locations in Florida. This puts the total Walgreens to over 460, making FRHV extremely accessible to potential consumers. This, as well as two recent placement s, one with CVS, another chain in the southern region of Florida and Navarro, a premier hispanic pharmacy, places FRHV in an excellent position. With over another 80 locations carrying the Wings Of Nature brand, FRHV is in line for both long and short term growth.

Blugrass Energy Inc. (BLUG) Soars On News of MOU With DeepExpro LLC.

A Recent development sent Blugrass Energy Inc. (BLUG) way up in share price. Volume rose to record heights immediately, showing just how interesting news of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) can be to investors. BLUG is on it's third day of increases, and with more news being seen, it is unlikely to cool down. BLUG was up over 40% since it started to move, and its future looks promising. The partner of choice for BLUG is DeepExpro, LLC.

A Memorandum Of Understanding is an outline for an agreement between at least two parties. This, unlike a contract, is still only an outline, But, like a contract, it is still a legal document, and penalties apply to those who break their side of the agreement. This shows a very serious interest between the two exploration companies for developing this area of interest.

Like many energy companies, Blugrass has a large interest in oil and natural gas. They are focused in the USA, in the Permian Basin, which covers a large spread of Texlas and New Mexico. This basin is a huge origin of US based oil and is likely to be brimming with it.

DeepExpro LLC. Seems like an excellent partner for a joint venture, with lots of experience in the oil business. DeepExpro is an approved and qualified operator with the United States Department of Interior (USDOI), Minerals Management Service Gulf of Mexico (MMSGOM) Region.

Recent news which also brings BLUG some potential in the near future is their recent seismic 3d imaging of a canyon project. Petro Grande LLC, who signed a participation agreement with BLUG, has designated over 75 locations on lands located on the Soto Lease (Canyon Wells) that it believes would be economic to drill. In addition Petro Grande has identified 75 targets for Strawn and Ellenburger formations.

Petro Grande estimates that there could be approximately 500 Billion Cubic Feet of natural gas in its acreage position, this potentially represents an opportunity of recovering over $2 billion of natural gas based on today's approximate value of $4 per thousand cubic feet of natural gas. However to date an independent third party reserve report has not been completed. The three main natural gas formations are Canyon Sands, which are approximately 6,300 feet in depth; Strawn formation, approximately 12,000 feet in depth; and the Ellenburger is approximately 14,000 feet in depth.

With such expansion on the part of BLUG, it seems like a very strong company, willing to go for new prospects. There is unfortunately painfully little on DeepExpro LLC., making it an example of the frustrations and difficulties involved in penny stocks. BLUG is definitely making moves, but be careful when dealing with companies whose information cannot be verified easily. This matters less for short-term investments since even if company news is entirely bogus, it can still be profitable to invest into it. Since BLUG has already went up almost 100%, there was and will likely be money to be made from them.

Ambac Financial Group(ABK) On Third Day Of Huge Growth

Volume is Still on the Rise!

In the age of difficult financial times, security for ones savings and earnings can mean the difference between being able to retire comfortably and needing to sell your belongings to scrape by. Perhaps this is why Ambac Financial Group (ABK), who deals with insuring investments and savings when a company turns belly up, has seen such high profits. In their own words,

Ambac has been seeing moderate gains since last Wednesday, having their fourth quarter results upcoming. After the announcement of profits came through, the first of so far three large days of gains followed. As of this morning the stock price soared to over 400% since the beginning of the month.

One major piece of news recently was the selling of millions of Ambac shares by Martin Whitman, merely days before he stock took off. Many follow his portfolio, and those who take after his actions are more than likely kicking themselves currently. He is known for his views on risk in investing. Namely, risk need not be necessary for high profit investments.

Volume on Ambac has yet to cool down, so we may see a couple more days of increasing prices. As many investors know, the higher a stock soars, the more people believe it is reaching it's real worth. As such, it will likely peak and fall quickly, making some take the risky route of short selling. Although few stocks stay near the price they peak at, it is difficult to get the timing right with short selling. And do not be fooled by the strong convergence of the Bollinger bands. After each large jump in price, the bands came closer together again quickly for the remainder of the day.

One last thing to note here is the strong movement seen in the premarket. This has been noted on several news sites who have covered Ambac, and it should not be underestimated. Several online brokers allow premarket and extended trading hours. There is generally little movement there, allowing little liquidity for investors. If there is much activity outside trading hours, it means that there are strong expectations that stock price will be moving fast, and action needs to be taken immediatley to benefit from it.

Telik Rising on Heavy Volume

We have seen many recent gainers come from the biotech sphere. Telik Inc. (TELK) has been one such mover, making a quick climb this week. Telik is a bio-medical company focusing on cancer treatment through small molecule drugs. Their two heavy hitter drugs are Telintra and Telcyta, used in very specific forms of cancer. They claim success of their research through a proprietary technology of their called TRAP, which allows quick and efficient screening of small molecule drug possibilities.

TRAP, standing for Target-Related Affinity Profiling, is one of the key instruments in Telik research and development. They use sophisticated computational tools to search this database and identify drug candidates more rapidly than with alternative technologies.

Telintra is currently in Phase II clinical trials and hopes are high. Preliminary results are positive, and Telintra has a favorable safety profile and provides clinical benefit to some of the patients. Telcyta, focusing on advanced ovarian cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, colon cancer and breast cancer, is under some of the final stages of research and trials. According to Telik, "We are evaluating our clinical data to assess the utility of TELCYTA® in additional cancers. Additional studies will need to be completed prior to a potential regulatory submission and the company is currently pursuing corporate partners to help in the further development of TELCYTA®."

We have seen such a strong growth in interest for Telik that volume is almost 10 times the average! This interest is likely to last, although based on the historical trends of this stock, it is liable to peak and fall quickly. There is some likelihood that the recent jump will plateau and stay at a higher price for some time until the next big shift.

The variability of TELK is one of its strong points. The spread between quarterly highs and lows are very useful for someone seeking to make several profitable moves on one stock. The differences in highs and lows have been rarely below 100%, and occasionally above 200%. This means that if an investor times their trades properly, they could make over 100% returns on their investment in TELK at least each quarter. More moderate gains of 50% would be easier and more frequent however. In any case, the longevity of Telik and their fluctuating price makes for many opportunities.

The key indicators for Telik are very strong, as far as penny stocks go. One that screams out as proof of their excellent long-term business plan is their continually decreasing losses. Their losses have been dropping steadily since 2006 and is currently almost a quarter of the size it was back then. This seems likely to continue, and it will be big news when the first report of quarterly profits rolls in.

Telik is currently listed under the independent research firm Skymark Research. There is a wealth of information there, and trial memberships allow anyone to see it. This aids the company in transparency, and may ease some of the worries investors may have. This gives Telik an edge few other penny stocks have, in that their ability to list their statistics clearly means they are a serious company looking to succeed.

One other strong point about TELK is that there are many institutional investors who have a stake in the company. This usually means that there is some confidence in a company, with more institutional investors usually meaning more stability or potential. With 63% of shares or so held by institutions, there is major interest in Telik. With many penny stocks being unable to even list how much of their stock is held by institutions, the transparency and obvious strength of TELK makes it stand out of the crowd.

IMGG Is Seeing Lots of Action With FDA Submission

Imaging3 Inc. (IMGG) rose over $0.10 yesterday and continued even higher today, going above the $0.80 mark. With the advancement of FDA discussion volume is skyrocketing. The last three months have seen IMGG show high levels of variability with a slight upward trend. With this latest move investors are coming or running based on what they expect to become of the FDA submission. A new worry for some on the boards is a recent change in the FDA review staff, which could slow or stop the progression of IMGG, although it shouldn't be a very influencing factor.

IMGG is an imaging company based around their Dominion product (DViS). This is a new and revolutionary piece of equipment capable of replacing several larger tools needed for several different tasks. It has many advantages over more traditional equipment, and with a lower price tag than existing CT devices.

One of the largest advancements of this machine is its real-time visuals. Using high-resolution fluoroscopy, the DViS can provide a 30 frame per second live video of a patient. This allows the medical personnel to see under the skin and perform immediate diagnosis of the area of interest. This noninvasive procedure can be done without the need of radiation shielding and with a much higher speed than traditional methods. This machine is capable of reducing costs on several fronts for any hospital.

With the healthcare changes being made in America, many hospitals will be looking for new equipment like this. With more people than ever in America accessing the healthcare facilities for cheaper than ever, there will be high demand for a cheap, versatile tools like this that are quick and easy to use. High patient turnover, little cost to purchase and simple to use technology will be making many friends for those hospitals trying to balance their budgets.

An FDA response will be on the way soon, and with it more movement in this penny stock. There is much interest in IMGG currently and there will be many eyes watching for the next news to come out.

Gentium Up on Third Large Jump This Month

As medicine progresses, there always seems to be new problems to tackle. Many smaller companies focus on specific problems and are very capable of filling niche needs. This can bring innovative companies to suddenly become pharmaceutical giants from their more humble roots of simple medicinal R&D. Gentium S.p.A. (GENT) has been a recent and frequent winner this past month, highlighting the power of successful drug development.

GENT is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the discovery, research, development and manufacture of active ingredients derived from natural sources as potential therapeutic agents. Their main facility is located in Villa Guardia in Italy. One of their more successful drugs, Defibrotide, was mentioned in the Ithaca Journal in a sad and compelling story, and helped launch GENT on the first of three large waves of volume. Today was the latest in these string of gains, topping GENT somewhere just above the $4.00 mark. This is a notable increase from the $1.30 from the beginning of the month.

Defibrotide works to counteract specific negative effects of cancer treatment. Namely a disease called hepatic veno-occlusive disease (VOD), which targets the liver and is fatal around 90% of the time according to the GENT website. This disease blocks veins and arteries in the livier which can cause serious complications for the patient. The results from the PHASE III clinical trials shows strong tendancies for having significant effect on sever VOD, which bodes well for GENT. The methods used are based on stem cell transplants, and showed a 40% reduction in incidence of VOD after said transplant.

The markets reacted strongly to yesterdays financial report, detailing the fourth quarter and yearly results. The report highlighted major improvements since last years equivalent quarter, with a 78% increase in revenue, pushing expected revenue in 2010 close to $25 million area. This stock has shown itself to be quite strong this month and has a strong outlook for the future. It is unknown whether or not this pattern of frequent boosts in volume and price will continue, but it seems like GENT is at the least a strong company, with a history of variability which is good for long and short term investors.

A Computer Revoution Will Makes Stocks Like PIHN Explode!

The Tech industry is possibly one of the fastest moving in all of human history, with huge advances coming less than decades apart. Think back twenty years when Macs were not powerful, hand held or even had CD trays. Since then we have seen no less than three other major data storage mediums; CDs, DVDs and BluRay and thumb drives.

Now look at how other industries have progressed, like construction or resource extraction. There is no question that it is far behind the tech industry in growth rate. The reason is it is still in it's infancy. Software and Hardware are both young and growing as fast as ever. It is still not too late to invest in technologies! Polaris International Holdings (PIHN) is an example of a company tapping into what is being hailed as the next Computing Revolution. This powerful new area in the tech industry is called cloud computing, with more on this later. PIHN is a successful penny stock which more than doubled in size the last month from its sub-penny levels. They specialize in outsourcing Information Technology (IT) solutions and have offices in California and Tokyo Japan. Their stock doubled due to ventures in China and are looking to acquire more companies across the USA.

Cloud computing is currently being widely used, but is still in the developmental stages. Cloud computing is essentially what Google Docs is, allowing many users to access and alter the same information remotely. This has many possible applications in office settings, and IT companies who need specific software platforms for different needs. This area is expected to become a $160 Billion annual market in 2011. This is worth paying attention to.

The level of collaboration involved in cloud computing is much higher than traditional networks and can be accessed from home even, allowing large, widespread companies all to work on the same project simultaneously, regardless of where they are. With more streamlined and specific software, faster internet connections and larger networks being made, cloud computing will turn offices, schools and even social networking sites into much more dynamic and efficient places.

This may go even further one day with the advancement of distributed computing technology, a less well known yet powerful new tool. This could allow other computers to help with the processing of our programs. This is currently used for demanding algorithms in research labs, the largest of which is the Folding at Home Project. Rather than purchasing supercomputers to make Protein Folding calculations, Stanford University's Chemistry Department have used the help of many volunteer computers over the internet to act like a supercomputer. It makes use of unused processing power of computers that are idle to help crunch the numbers necessary for the research.

This could be used in conjunction of cloud computing to help power the processes of every piece of software in the cloud, making less need for powerful servers to take on the full load. This could allow for very tasking software to be used by anyone, not just those with super computers.

With Microsoft and Google looking to increase their cloud computing foothold, there are many opportunities for smaller innovative companies to be bought up. Currently Googles App Engine is acting as a support infrastructure to run web-based applications off of. Likewise Microsoft SQL Azure is for similar ends. Google OS Google Chrome may seem only like a web browser to some, but the future holds more web apps than ever before, so maybe it does hold some water.

If there comes one company with a strong new take on cloud computing, it could last and become another heavy hitter like Apple or Microsoft, rather than being eaten by larger companies. Remember, Google bought Writely which became the famous Google docs, and undoubtedly there will be more whose fate is similar. But without a doubt this new technology will be showing up and making itself a must have for any competitive business or research department.

Keep an eye on PIHN and others like it, they may have a large role to play in the evolution of computing.

San West Slides Lower, May Be Due For Another Jump

There have been many success stories these last two months, but few of them seem to last very long. Timing is important when it comes to volatile stocks that shoot up and drop back down this quickly. Proper timing with San West could have earned someone almost 300% returns! Knowing when to jump out with your earnings is critical, because it took only a few days for San West (SNWT) to fall back much lower.

San West is an off road based vehicle company. Their primary location is in California and some other areas in the western USA. One successful fully owned subsidiary is Buggy World. One strong point of Buggy World is their exclusive rights to San Diego County territory with their brands and projects.

Success stories helped lift the price of the stock initially in February. Their earnings were above expected levels and their expansion into the Internet retail market was proven to be a good move. They also predicted even higher sales in the quarters to come.

Recently, despite more good news, the stock has been on a fairly steady decline. It is currently at $0.085 and going lower. There was one more jump recently, much smaller than the first, when news of the reduced cost of advertising was announced. With such low volume trading as the stock drops in price, it seems to be waiting for the slightest bit of excitement to jump up again.

There are some worries concerning the company using money to promote their stock and the fact that they have not produced audited reports. Many of their numbers are from press release sources and should not be treated as 100% verifiable. As such it can be seen as a risky company. We encourage caution and smart investing, but sometimes by the time audited reports come it is too late to make the biggest earnings.

SNWT has seen little action these last two weeks, and as a general rule if a stock is dropping or raising on little volume, it could be a sign that it is a temporary change. As San West drops to a lower price, think of purchasing it since it has never dropped below $0.06.

Clean Coal Ready For Another Bust Out

Since their big move just over a month ago, Clean Coal Technologies (CCTC) has seen decent variability, but no real trend. This may change as interest in CCTC has suddenly perked again. Just this Wednesday volume was at levels unseen since just after their large jump in share price. The newswires have been quite as well, with only minor news until two days ago. Now is the chance to hop on before CCTC jumps from signing joint venture deals in the US, China and India.

These deals are pending, but are not far away at all. And be sure, as soon as any one of them is signed, this stock could explode again. Hype for CCTC has cooled, but as soon as it begins any new deals everyone will remember its previous gains and try to jump onboard. Early April is the expected date for the first such agreement, which means this stock is still HOT.

Clean coal technology sounds almost like science fiction, allowing coal to be a fuel capable of producing some of the cleaned energy around. CCTC has a patented technology for their coal cleaning method, which is high efficiency and low cost. This idea of clean coal however is a hot topic, not truly being accepted as a green technology.

Coal cleaning can be any number of steps and processes that aim to reduce the emissions and waste produced when coal is burnt. Some include a washing stage, removing impurities from crushed pieces of coal. This means that when burned, only the necessary energy producing particles are ignited, making energy production more efficient and creating less pollution. Other examples of cleaning methods are carbon

dioxide capture, gasification and treating gases with steam to capture the heavier sulfur dioxide particles.

CCTC has recently signed with an advising and consulting firm, Randall Business Development (RBD), with hopes to capitalize on opportunities to deploy it's patented coal-cleaning method. According to the CCTC website

"CCTC intends to use a franchise model whereby CCTC will license its technology to third parties and exact a license fee, as well as a royalty fee, based on plant production. CCTC is in various stages with several parties regarding the initial deployment of its technology. In the immediate term, CCTC is exploring joint venture arrangements and other strategic partnerships with various parties to facilitate the initial deployment of its technology. CCTC plans to place its technology at mine mouths, co-locate its facilities with both new and existing coal-burning power plants, or as a means of upgrading low to mid grade coals to create a source fuel for liquefaction applications."

Even if coal is never fully clean, every effort made to make it cleaner will be a step towards a greener economy. And since it is such a cheap solution, companies are likely to adopt this technology as one of the best quick fixes there is. This means more money for CCTC, and for its investors.

Thresher Conference Call Could Boost or Break Stock Tomorrow

Acquisitions are not rare events in the business world, and it is even more common when dealing with penny and sub-penny stocks. Recently, Thresher Industries (THRR) announced the proposed sale of the company to shareholders recently, after receiving an offer on March 9th. The Board of Directors opted for a speedy sale, hoping to finalize by April 10th.

Stock prices began waning for THRR back in late spring of 2009, and hovered between the $0.0001 mark and $0.0006. This changed a week ago when prices soared around 300% higher and volume busted norms. Prices have since fallen slightly, but volume is still high as a conference call approaches. This call is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 24 at 11:00 AM (GMT -0700).

The board agreed that the offer was more than adequate, amounting to $0.01 for each outstanding share. This would put the market valuation for the company at $300,000, which is around 5-6 times current pricing. This means a great gain for shareholders should this deal come to fruition. The last time such a price was reached by Thresher was late December 2008, and the company has long since left such pricing behind.

Thresher Industries is a producer of greener aluminum and metal castings. The use of recycled metal makes this small cap a green choice, making 100% recycled products. They also choose to use many types of biodegradable technology and seeks to lower economic and environmental costs. THRR makes use of a unique method of casting magnesium and aluminum, called the Nautilus Core. This is biodegradable and has a variety of uses. According to the Thresher website:

"The core can withstand virtually any die cast process pressures and temperatures of up to 1380 degrees F. The core has the appearance of a high quality ceramic, can be created with any surface finish desired, is dimensionally stable and is removed easily and quickly. The core material is environmentally friendly and the material can be easily reclaimed."

Speakers at the conference call are thought to be Thresher CFO Roger Rowell as well as the THRR securities council. The call will be an informative one, clarifying many details about the proposed deal to sell THRR. This could be a pivotal moment for the stock and company, be sure to be ready to jump on whatever opportunity presents itself.

Bonanza Goldfields Made a Quick Move Up, How High Can it Get?

It began late yesterday afternoon and markets closed before the run on Bonanza Goldfields (BONZ) was finished. Today it shot up over 80% since markets opened Thursday, leveling out near the $0.06 mark. The buzz over Bonanza hasn't slowed down, and is likely to head into next week.

The mining groups site is located on the northeastern flank of the Belmont Mountains in Maricopa County in Arizona. Recent evaluation from sampling of the terrain estimates 6 large zones with "exceptionally high-levels" of gold content.

BONZ received the go-ahead from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in early January. Their land claim has around 320 acres and has possibilities for other valuable minerals as well. Initial reports suggest that areas of interest could hold "gold up to 0.10 oz per ton, silver up to 7 oz per ton, lead over 20% and zinc over 30% per ton." With gold prices still above $1100/ounce companies will still be trying to get it anywhere they can.

Their primary location in the Black Rock Basin in Arizona are beingworked on after the bond owed to the BLM was paid. Initial trenching efforts have begun yesterday, aiming to reach 3000ft in length. Hopefully word will come soon of the exact level of success of their efforts.

But because of these potential gains, many people forget that. Investing is not a game, although the excitment makes people lose sight of why they are investing. In short, the biggest potential risk is greed.

Greed is a terrifying thing and can infect anyone. When investors get greedy, their thoughts are to the future where they imagine their recent investments rising in value. Even as the stock devaluates, they know that it will be going up soon. With every update of the chart they expect it to have an upturn rather than continuing downwards.

The main message about penny stocks that could save you grief and your fortune is this: Get in, then get out. Penny stocks are fast moving and volatile, and most gains you see are temporary. This is why you should buy shares fast, and leave fast before things can go wrong. It's just a matter of time before a stock devalues after an explosion in price, don't be therre when it happens. Make some money then leave. The longer you money stays there the riskier it becomes. Unfortunately many people push their luck and wind up losing most or all of their investment. Most risks involving penny stocks can be broken down into several categories: Information, Volatility, No Standards and No liquidity. Each has their own set of problems and plays a part in why penny stocks are difficult for investors.

Information

There are many problems with information, namely because we rely on it to make winning decisions. Without information there is only chance and hope. This problem becomes even difficult when we take into account false and misleading information which is pumped out by malevolent or greedy individuals or groups. Penny stocks react strongly to hype, so rumors and false information is likely to affect it as well, at least in the short run. Be sure to get your information from reliable sources whose name you know.

The next problem with penny stocks and information is the awful lack of it. Penny stocks often don't have accurate information, if they even have any. They are not required to file almost anything to anyone, making them only do so at their leisure. This makes their updates untimely and inaccurate most of the time. But it does help weed out the more professional penny stocks, for they will attempt to keep better records than the others.

Volatility

Penny Stocks are know for their fast movements. This allows them to grow over 50% a day in some cases. Unfortunately the reverse is true as well. One moment you believe you are well on you're way to earning a respectable 20% over a week or two, and then suddenly price falls dramatically, sometimes with little to no explanation. This is one of the more problematic since there is little anyone can do to change this nature of penny stocks. Keep in mind the volatility of stocks, and be ready to take corrective actions very quickly.

No Standards

This relates to what was mentioned in the first section on information about penny stocks not needing to file documents like regular companies do under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Companies trading under 1$ are often exempt from filing anything to the SEC. This means they are missing information, as mentioned earlier. But this also means they are not held to many standards of conduct involving their business. Just know there a few ways to check up on the penny stock companies, and little way to see what information they might be smudging. This doesn't detract from potential gains, but it could lead to rapid devaluation of stock value if many believe or hear word of their shady practice.

No Liquidity

Liquidity is the ability to move the value of one thing to another. That is to say, a bank lets you take out virtually 100% of your money at any time. The opposite is true for physical goods, like cars. You put money in to buy them, but to get that money out again you first need to find a buyer, not to mention the devaluation of the car from having been previously owned. Penny stocks can sometimes act like physical goods, in the sense that it may be hard to find someone to buy your shares. Larger stocks usually have enough volume in trades and requests to purchase and sell that there are never any problems.

This highlights the necessity of moving quickly in penny stocks. If you have shares in a stock that has been shown as a shell company or as using fictitious financial information, not only wil the price be falling, but no one who knows this will wish to buy your shares. Likewise, sometimes there are very few people interested in the stock, and has low volume day in and day out. It will then be dificult to buy OR sell shares, since few people are paying attention to that company. This is one benefit of being an individual investor, usually the amount of shares bought are low enough that there are rarely any problems of liquidity.

The first thing you should do when deciding on how to proceed with investing is to take a careful look at your finances. Do not risk what you do have for what you could get, unless a loss won't put you too far behind. Never trade when you could get into serious trouble if you lose.

The second step is to look at if penny stocks are ok for you. These stocks are riskier and fast moving. If you don't have money to spare or if you can't look at you stocks at least once a week, this may not be the place for you. Only the quick and intelligent survive in the penny stocks market.

Next you should think about your broker. This may require some research, but can save you tons of money! If you are with a broker already ask them about access to penny stocks, through either the OTCBB or pinksheets and if there are any fees associated with low share value trading or trading many shares in one order. Many brokers have surcharges and share limits when it comes to such trades, making them take away almost as much as you would earn.

Finally, don't follow the pack unless you know it's a good idea. Take the time to research any hot stocks, the last thing you would want is to run headlong into a stock that's devaluing quickly. Nothing is more valuable than your own experience, so start small and learn from your mistakes and those of others. Time spent researching will always pay off eventually.
